Microsoft has apologized for the “less-than-perfect experience” that many new owners of the Surface Pro 4 are reporting. However, even with the many issues that Microsoft faces, the company has still surpassed Apple in tablet sales.
The Redmond-based company’s latest flagship hybrid laptop-tablet has been suffering from flickering screens and poor battery performance even if the device is put into sleep mode. Also reported is a wake up time from sleep mode that is slower than previous versions of devices and software from Microsoft.
“For those of you who’ve had a less-than-perfect experience, we’re sorry for any frustration this has caused,” said a Microsoft representative through a forum post on Microsoft’s Community site. The apology was followed up by thanking users for their “open and candid feedback on Surface Book and Surface Pro 4.”
The Surface Pro 4 creator’s recommendation for users experiencing these problems is to make sure to keep their devices are updated as the company is ready to release fixes through Windows updates. The fixes to these errors are set to be rolled out come early 2016.
However, despite the many issues that face Surface Pro 4 owners, Microsoft has trumped Apple in terms of tablet sales this quarter. 1010 Data reports that Microsoft has won over 45 percent of total tablet sales online in October, behind the release of the Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book, as Apple only had a 17 percent share.
But the quarter is not yet over, and Apple looks to counter with the release of the iPad Pro. The race will not be easy, though, as Apple faces fierce competition, with the likes of the Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga and the Toshiba Portege also being released. Also, not to mention Google’s Pixel C, which is introducing a whole bundle of great specs and unique features.
The Microsoft Surface Pro 4 sports a 12.3-inch screen that supports 2736 x 1824 pixels, and comes in several processor variants like Intel Core m3, Core i5 and Core i7. The device also has three variants for RAM: 4 GB, 8 GB and 16 GB.
The Surface Pro 4’s base price is at $899, and the variant with the highest specifications featuring a Core i7 processor, 16 GB RAM and 512 GB storage is available for $1,799.
