Microsoft Surface Phone release date, specs and features: 2017 launch teased by tech giant?

Could the long rumored Microsoft Surface Phone finally launch next year?

The mention of a certain Microsoft Surface Phone is no longer a new thing, as talks about the device has been circulating around the rumor mill for a while now. Now, rumors of such as device have been rekindled anew, as a photo from inside Microsoft’s Building 88 in Redmond, Washington showed what was speculated to be teasers, or at least placeholders for future Surface devices and all of them appear to be coming within the next year or so.

Just recently, Indian app developer Shubhan Chemburkar shared a photo he took himself while inside Building 88. In a set of photos uploaded on his Twitter account, a wall dedicated to showcasing Microsoft’s Surface brand of devices was shown. In the wall, photos of current Surface branded devices can be seen including the Surface Pro 4 hybrid tablet, as well as Surface Book.

In addition to the showcasing of the devices through photos, there are slots on the wall four of it, to be exact with photos that only shows silhouettes of purported Surface devices. Three slots show a 2017 label while the fourth one has a 2016 label.

While Microsoft has not explicitly stated that these are four new Surface devices that users can expect on the mentioned years, the long running rumors consists of four new Surface devices, if they would end up being true: there is the Surface Pro 5, the Surface Book 2, the long rumored Surface Phone, and the recently rumored Surface-branded all-in-one (AIO) computer.

As for the Surface Phone, rumor has it that the device would be targeting the enterprise market, with a variant reaching up to a gargantuan amount of 8 GB of random access memory (RAM) a first so far for any mobile device and a storage capacity of up to 512 GB.
