Microsoft Lumia 840 vs. iPhone 6 specs: how do the Windows 10 phone and Apple's flagship size up to each other?


As Windows 10 gets closer to its release, so will the new Microsoft software find its way to the mobile platform. The first model expected to carry the Windows 10 mobile operating system is the upcoming Lumia 840or as it is rumored now, the Lumia 850.

Compared to the latest smartphones out there like the Apple iPhone 6, how will the upcoming Windows 10 phone fare?


The iPhone 6 is bigger than its predecessors, but it’s also thinner. Sporting a 4.7-inch display, the iPhone is only 6.99mm thin, the thinnest iPhone yet to date. Additionally, it has a Retina HD display with a stunning 1334 x 750 resolution, and features a metal surface.

The upcoming Lumia, meanwhile, is rumored to have a 5.2-inch wide display with a 2K resolution. It has a ClearBlack display feature. It boasts of a full metal slim unibody.

Hardware and Software

The Lumia may run under with a Hexacore Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor, with 3GB worth of RAM, and 32GB worth of built-in internal storage. It will support an external microSD expansion.

The iPhone 6, on the other hand, runs on a 64-bit dual-core A8 processor, with an M8 motion coprocessor. It has three variants —  units with 16GB, 64GB, and 12GB worth of internal storage, all coming with only 1GB of RAM. It does not have support for an external microSD expansion.

As for the camera, the upcoming Lumia is rumored to have a 20-megapixel rear camera, along with a 5-megapixel front shooter for selfies and video calls.

For the iPhone 6, it boasts of an 8-megapixel camera with the iSight technology, with a new sensor with Focus Pixels that allow video recording of up to 1080p HD resolution on 60 fps rate, and slo-mo video capture at 240fps. It is also capable of time-lapse video mode.

The Lumia is expected to be powered by a 3000mAh battery, while the iPhone 6 is only powered by a 1810mAh battery.
