Michael Schumacher health updates: Racer still slowly recovering, wife sells assets to sustain medical expenses

Famous Formula One racer Michael Schumacher is still slowly recovering from his tragic accident two years ago. However, there are reports that the family is already using his accumulated wealth in order to sustain the medical expenses needed for his recovery.

After his tragic skiing accident in the French Alps in 2013, which left him in coma for almost six months, he is under extensive medical rehabilitation with the 24/7 constant care of 15 hired medical staff. The medical expenses require them to shell out at least $150,000 weekly.

In order to sustain the finances needed to pay for the said medical care, it has prompted his wife Corinna to sell their jet worth $25 million, as well as their home in Norway, which has been their holiday sanctuary since the 1990s for $3 million. There are also reports that his wife is planning to sell their family chalet in France for a still undisclosed amount.

At the moment, only vague details pertaining to the former Formula One racer are revealed as the family has requested for privacy regarding his condition. Nonetheless, news two months ago revealed that Michael weighed less than 45 kilograms and is still unable to walk, talk, and respond to outside stimulus.

Still, his wife is fully focused on Michael and hardly any distraction comes to her, revealed a translated article by Bunte. Fans from all over the world also continue to support Michael through social media fan pages and websites.

In a page put up for Michael Schumacher, the family is grateful for the well-wishes sent to them every day and are “stunned” with the amount of sympathies sent by people around the world. The message continued, “We can only always thank you for facing this fight together with him and us. We remain confident and hope the best for Michael. Your strength is helping us to keep supporting him.”
