Melissa McCarthy has been showing off her new figure after she lost 75 lbs. She looked noticeably slimmer on “Ghostbusters” and her transformation over the years has been astounding. So, what’s her secret?
In the April issue of OK! magazine (via Hollywood Life), McCarthy gave some tips on how to slim down and lose those extra unwanted pounds. Actually, she hasn’t been doing anything out of this world and everybody can follow her regimen. Of course, anyone who wants to lose weight will have to follow it zealously.
McCarthy follows a high-protein, low-carb diet and it clearly did wonders for her. According to Foods4BetterHealth, the actress eats a lot of fruits, vegetables, and nuts because these can boost her metabolism. She also drinks water with lemon. Sources say McCarthy drinks two cups of green tea per day, one during her morning snack and the other at lunch.
Besides watching what she eats, she also exercises regularly. In fact, her personal trainer revealed that she incorporated some kickboxing and martial arts into her routine. She also does burpees and rope skipping.
Interestingly, McCarthy has a full-body resistance training routine that includes squats, walking lunges, machine chest press, and barbell deadlift. She also has a full-body strength regimen that includes body weight pushups, reverse crunches, wall sits, hamstring ball curls, jumping jacks, lower back extensions, and body weight squats.
According to McCarthy, the secret to losing weight is to have a boring life. “You go to bed at 7:30[pm]. That’s the trick,” she told OK! magazine. Well, she may be slimmer nowadays but she can still dish out the jokes.
Her other secret? She stopped worrying about her size. “I truly stopped worrying about it. I think there’s something to kinda loosening up and not being so nervous and rigid about it that, bizarrely, has worked,” McCarthy told Life & Style.
