The new Meizu Pro 5 may be coming a little later than what was originally planned.
According to a report in Phone Arena, a recent typhoon that hit China affected one of the company’s production facilities. With that, the release date for the new Pro 5 was pushed back to sometime around November of this year. It is still unknown whether an international release will be made.
As detailed by Meizu, the new Pro 5 flagship sports a 5.7-inch wide Super AMOLED display with a 1080p Full HD resolution and a pixel density rate of 387 ppi, and is made of 2.5D curved glass, optimized for better phone handling. It runs under the Samsung-made Exynos 7420 chipset, giving processing power to the phone, along with an octa-core ARM Cortex A57 and Cortex A53 CPU, and coupled with a Mali T760 GPU.
The Meizu Pro 5 has two variantsthe one with 3 GB worth of LPDDR4 RAM comes with 32 GB worth of built-in internal storage, and the one with 4 GB of RAM has a 64 GB worth of storage capacity. This can be expanded via external microSD expansion. However, the Meizu Pro 5 does not have a dedicated slot for the microSD card, but uses the nano-SIM 2 slot as a TF card slot, too. It supports card capacity of up to 128 GB worth.
As for the camera, the Pro 5 boasts of a 21 megapixels rear main camera that comes powered by the Sony IMX230 sensor, measuring 1/2.4 inches in size, and with an f/2.2 aperture. It comes with a 5 megapixels front camera with an OmniVision OV5670 sensor for selfies and video calling, with FotoNation 2.0 and Face AE features.
The new flagship also features an “improved” fingerprint scanner technology, called the mTouch 2.1. It also features a new audio chipset dubbed as HiFi 2.0.
Additionally, the utilization of a USB Type-C port along with the improved mCharge fast charging technology can bring the 3050 mAh battery of the Pro 5 form 0-65% in just 30 minutes span of charge time. It boots on Android Lollipop 5.1 with Flyme 5 UI on top of it.
The 32GB/3GB of RAM variant is priced at CNY 2800, or $439, while the 64GB/4GB of RAM variant is for CNY 3100, or $490.
