As the much awaited second season of “Marvel’s Daredevil” approaches, fans are getting more and more excited to see what the new season will bring. Following the critically acclaimed first season of the Netflix original series, the show will now be introducing two familiar characters from the Marvel UniverseJon Bernthal as Frank Castle aka The Punisher, and Elodie Yung as Elektra. But apparently, the fans are not the only group of people who are excited for the series’ return, but also the people at Marvel, too.
In a recent interview with ComicBook.com, Marvel Television Executive Vice President Jeph Loeb expressed his excitement and confidence for the upcoming season of the series, saying that this version of the comic book characters will not disappoint their fans.
“If you love season one, you’re going to love (emphasis his) season two,” Loeb said. “Jon Bernthal has succeeded in his quest. His Punisher is extraordinarily memorable, in every way.”
Elektra, who will be played by Elodie Yung, is also set to mess with the emotions of series main protagonist Matt Murdock, and also that of the viewers’, as the executive teases that Elektra will make people fall in love with her and then break their hearts, “because that’s what Elektra does to people.”
Also, Loeb explained that the presence of The Punisher and Elektra in the life of Matt Murdock will create a division in his life, as both new characterswith Elekrta as the woman form his pasthave their own way of getting the job done, their own way of delivering justice that will lead to matt asking himself: “what it is to be a hero.”
“What’s fantastic about the story is, is that it’s created this enormous division in his life,” Loeb continued, “because the woman that he once loved has returned, and she certainly has some issues with morality, and how you get the job done, and going on the other end of the spectrum is Frank Castle, who believes that justice needs to be served in a particular way.”
“Marvel’s Daredevil” will return on Netflix with complete episodes on March 18.
