Sooner or later, movies from the Marvel Cinematic Universe will also be referencing events and/or characters from the small screen world of the Universethe TV shows.
Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has always had a special tie-in episode whenever a film from the MCU comes outfor instance, they had one for Thor 2: The Dark World, they had one for Captain America: Winter Soldier, and events of Avengers: Age of Ultron were referenced in the latter part of the show’s Season Two. The spinoff series Agent Carter had a lot of MCU tidbits scattered all over it, and the Netflix series Daredevil also referenced the battle of New York in the first The Avengers film.
Now, marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said that the movies may soon be referencing the TV shows, too.
In an interview with IGN, the Marvel Studios exec said that the movies may soon be returning the favor. “I think that’s inevitable at some point as we’re plotting the movies going forward and they’re doing the shows,” Feige said.
However, the storytelling timeline is not perfectly parallel, as TV works faster than the movies.
“It’s easier for them,” he added. “They’re more nimble and faster and produce things quicker than we do, which is one of the main reasons you see the repercussions of Winter Soldier and Age of Ultron in the show. Going forward and certainly as they begin to do more shows and cast them with such great actors as they have — particularly Daredevil — that that may occur. A lot of it is by the time we start doing a movie, they’d be midway through a season; by the time it comes out they’d be done with the second, starting the third season. Finding timing on that is not always easy.”
Seeing that Daredevil and the future team of The Defenders will be a good addition to the team of Avengers, and the fact that S.H.I.E.L.D. is centered on the Inhumans now, with an Inhumans film coming soon, the question now is: will the TV character be able to jump to the big screen soon?
“I don’t know, probably. That would probably be the cool thing to do. That particular scenario has not come up yet.”
