Fans of 2k Games’ “Mafia” series can expect to return to the underworld of organized crime in style as the company has announced the contents of the Collector’s Edition of the upcoming third game in the series, “Mafia III.”
According to the announcement on 2K Games’ official website, the limited Collector’s Edition will ship with everything included in the game’s Deluxe Edition and some more physical fluff items.
For those willing to pay premium for the limited Collector’s Edition, they can get the above and an “Exclusive Two-LP Vinyl Soundtrack and Score Collection” which features various hits from the 60s, two Exclusive Collectible Art Prints, a collectible art book featuring various artwork created for the game, a replica of protagonist Lincoln Clay’s dog tags, and drink coasters made of faux leather featuring designs from the game’s in-universe establishments.
Songs included in the LP are Lightnin’ Hopkins’ “Black Ghost Glues,” The Rolling Stones’ “Paint It, Black,” Otis Redding and Carla Thomas’ “Tramp,” Shadows of Knight’s “I Got My Mojo Working,” Rufus Thomas’ “Walking The Dog,” and Jimi Hendrix’s “All Along The Watchtower” on the Side One section.
Side Two songs are Sam Cooke’s “Chain Gang,” Dewey Edwards’ “I Let A Good Thing Go By,” Lonnie Youngblood’s “Go Go Shoes,” Clarence Carter’s “Slip Away,” and The Animals’ “The House Of The Rising Sun.” Furthermore, Side Two also features the game’s original soundtrack as composed by Jesse Harlin and Jim Bonney.
As the debut title from developer Hangar 13, “Mafia III” is the third game in the “Mafia” series and takes place in the year 1968 in a fictionalized version of New Orleans called New Bordeaux. The story centers on Vietnam war veteran Lincoln Clay, but unlike previous entries in the series, it will actually pit the player against the titular organization by starting their own organized crime family. Along the way, Lincoln will be assisted by three allies which includes “Mafia II” protagonist Vito Scaletta as a returning supporting character.
“Mafia III” will be released worldwide on October 7.
