“Longmire” fans should probably thank Lou Diamond Phillips more as the actor has been diligently updating them with details and whatnots for the show’s fifth season. From the production’s start date to now an interesting plot point, the 54-year-old continues to generously dish out news enough to keep viewers satiated until they premiere their new installment.
Talking to Access Hollywood Live‘s Kit Hoover and guest co-host Bryan Safi, Phillips revealed that season 5 might see his character Henry Standing Bear and best buddy Walt Longmire, played by Robert Taylor, on opposing sides.
“The last we saw, Henry was being carted off to jail by Zahn McClarnon, who plays Mathias. In that scene, you will see what happens if they cut a deal,” the Tony Award-nominated actor teased. “Henry will be continuing his dual role as Hector, the sort-of vigilante, justice-bringer to the reservation, which will put him on a collision course with Walt Longmire, his best friend.”
When this storyline eventually comes to fruition, will the conflict potentially have fans divided as both men strongly believe in their own causes?
Meanwhile, another supposed fan divisive plot point comes from the theory that a WaltVic affair is in the pipeline. Earlier this month, Katee Sackhoff updated fans via her social media for the imminent return of “Longmire” season 5.
The actress who plays Vic posted a photo on Instagram of herself and Taylor seemingly in character for the new installment of the Western-themed series. “So close yet seems so far away!! #Longmire @netflix September 23rd can’t come soon enough. Here’s a sneak peek of the new season by Mr @dennydenn himself to hopefully ease the wait. Xoxoxo,” her accompanying caption read.
But what appears to be a normal tease evoked rumors of Vic and Walt being embroiled in an affair of their own. This is despite the fact that the town sheriff was last seen canoodling with Ally Walker’s Donna Monaghan.
Back in February, a poll was conducted to gauge fans’ reaction to a possible link between Walt and Vic. Unfortunately, it turns out, most fans are not really keen on the development.
“Longmire” season 5 will be available on Netflix on Sept. 23.
