'Longmire' season 5 news: Filming starts later this month confirms Lou Diamond Phillips

Given that that the driving force behind Western American themed series “Longmire” is the legion of fans who support the show, it is only expected that they will also be the first people to ask about season 5.

Fortunately, there is Lou Diamond Phillips who generously answered one fan’s question over Twitter about when the cast and crew will start filming for the show’s next season.

@RCristaldi March 23 and it’s actually #Longmire Season 5,” Phillips tweeted. The actor plays Walt Longmire’s (Robert Taylor) trusted friend and confidante, Henry Standing Bear.

Carter Matt further provides information about the filming process speculating that the main backdrop of the show will still be New Mexico like its precedent seasons as there are no reports about any major changes in the production process. Story-wise, the media outlet speculates that the fifth installment of the Netflix show will pick up right where season 4 ended which is kind of a cliffhanger. In the episode titled “What Happns on the Rez…” Walt and Donna’s (Ally Walker) intimate moment was suddenly interrupted when an intruder suddenly trespassed in the Absaroka County sheriff’s home.

Since last year, there has been a plethora of hypothesis of who might be the unknown perpetrator. Some fans think that it is a huge possibility that he could be Walker Browning (Callum Keith Rennie) as he was nowhere to be found when he should be on his hospital bed. Another suspected person is Jacob Nighthorse (A. Martinez) given that he has the perfect reason to go after the sheriff. But one of the most surprising speculations so far is that Donna may actually be working with whoever is rummaging through Walt’s abode and may just be posing as a friend to him.

If patterns are to be followed, “Longmire” season five will be available in Netflix sometime in September and the show will now have longer episodes to further cater to various sub-stories.
