Lindsay Lohan’s name is in the news again. This time, however, it isn’t the star who is involved in controversy. Her father, Michael Lohan, was arrested for battery charges involving his estranged wife Kate Major.
According to a report by CBS News, Lohan turned himself in to the Boca Raton police to face charges of a single count of battery. He was later placed on supervised release by Judge Joseph Marx while the case is still open.
The case reportedly stemmed from an October incident after Major alleged that her husband slapped one of their children. Major reportedly took out her phone to record him as he allegedly continued to be abusive towards her.
Major accused her husband of grabbing her, choking her, and slapping her.
A report by Palm Beach Post indicated that the video showed Lohan seemingly provoking his wife to hit him so that she could be blamed for the altercation.
While the incident happened in October, it was in November that Major submitted the video to police, presumably because she too was involved in an investigation before Department of Children and Families.
Major was arrested in April for battery after scratching her husband during an argument, but there were no charges filed on the case. Major was also sentenced to eight months in jail and a year probation in March 2014 for driving under the influence.
Still, it was unclear as to why Lohan was arrested for offenses committed in October.
Last November, the estranged couple lost custody of their two sons two-year-old Landon and 10-month-old Logan after a video surfaced showing the couple having an explosive argument in front of the boys.
The couple left the courtroom separately, and the boys have been temporarily entrusted to Lohan’s mother, reported TMZ.
