After several weeks of reports, both the LG G5 and Samsung Galaxy S7 are here. Hardware and software specifications of the flagship devices from two South Korean tech companies are bound to be compared. However, even before fans and users start the comparison, LG already fired a shot against Samsung through a local ad that directly referenced the Galaxy S7.
On the official Twitter account of LG Jordan, a new promotional image for the new LG G5 was uploaded. It showcased the seven different accessories for the new flagship in its “Friends” series. The image was captioned “The Real Use of 7,” which was styled so that the “S” and the “7” fall just on top of each other, forming an obvious hint of the “S7.” Additionally, the caption stated, “Think not what your phone can do, but what you can do with your phone.”
Even before the release of both flagships, LG has been firing shots against Samsung by hitting on its proud wireless charging features. OnTwitter, Samsung posted an advertisement for the Galaxy S6’s wireless charging features, citing a charging speed of zero percent to a certain point only in a matter of minutes. However, LG replied to the same tweet hitting on the non-removable battery feature of the Samsung Galaxy S6, saying, “Go from zero to full instantly with a removable battery.”
To note, the new LG G5 has a 2,800mAh removable battery, while the Samsung Galaxy S7 has a much larger 3,000 mAh battery, but is still a non-removable one.
The LG G5 is now official, though pricing details and official release dates have yet to be revealed. The Samsung Galaxy S7, on the other hand, is now available for pre-order, with sales kicking off on March 11. A free Gear VR with six games is offered for purchases from Feb. 23 to Mar.18.
