Legend of Zelda, tagged as one of the most influential forerunners of role playing games, is one of the most anticipated games from Nintendo. Originally slated for a 2015 release, it was earlier announced that the launch is pushed back to 2016. As the year end nears, fans are once again anticipating an announcement for the game’s release in Wii U consoles. However, there is no official date pinned down at the moment, but one thing for sure is that Legend of Zelda in Wii U is coming.
In the recently concluded investor’s meeting, Nintendo released its earnings summary, including both the games released for the year and the upcoming for next year. The list clearly indicated Legend of Zelda for Wii U; however, the launch date is still TBD. This clarifies the intent of the company to push through with Wii U release, to address fans who are getting worried that it has been cancelled
Along with this financial report, series producer Eiji Aonuma also assured fans when he had the chance to sit down and talk to Game Spot regarding the recently released Legend of Zelda: Triforce Heroes for 3DS. He said, “I want to assure you that the Wii U Zelda was not delayed in any way because of Triforce Heroes,” as he explained that there are separate teams allocated for the different consoles.
As for the upcoming Legend of Zelda in Wii U, Design & Trend mentioned that it will put the limelight on the game’s open world concept, along with a twist. When asked, Aonuma said: “I can’t go into details but I’m hoping to put a surprise, or kind of a twist, on my view of an open world game.”
The team plans to combine both the feedback of the players as well as their ideas, as he explained: “If we put all the feedback the fans write directly into the game, there won’t be an element of surprise.”
Although the release date of TBD is vague, fans have to take the developer’s word that the upcoming game will be worth the wait.
