'Lara Croft GO' release date: out on mobile devices August 27 priced $4.99

Square Enix has revealed the release date for their upcoming mobile game that sets to bring the iconic character from the popular Tomb Raider series to the mobile platforms.

As reported by the official press release form the Square Enix Montreal Studio, the Lara Croft GO will be released on August 27, and will be available for a price of $4.99. The game, a follow-up to the previous Hitman GO by the same studio, will be available both on the Apple App Store, the Google Play Store, as well as for Windows Phones.

Lara Croft GO is a game that brings the iconic main character from the Tomb Raider series, Lara Croft, to mobile devices. The game takes Lara Croft in a top-down view adventure to tombs, catacombs, and secret places, where players will have to solve puzzles and battle it out with various monsters in order to make progress to the next level. The game will be turn-based, which requires planning ahead in strategizing when fighting monsters. Beat every obstacle, take down nasty monsters, and collect loot and treasure along the way in Lara Croft GO.

The previously released Hitman GO game also followed the same turn-based principle in gameplay, and was also played in top-down view.

Earlier in the past week, Square Enix also released the new Final Fantasy VII game, exclusively for iOS users, and available via the Apple App Store. The studio has not announced news regarding the availability of Final Fantasy VII for Android devicesor if it will be available at all.

Square Enix also revealed several screenshots, letting excited players have a sneak peak of what the game may have to offer upon its release.

Lara Croft GO will be available for download for Android, iOS, and Windows devices on August 27.
