Kobe Bryant retirement rumors: NBA legend confirms his Nike shoe line continues; shares he's been close with LeBron James

Fans of NBA legendary player Kobe Bryant may be delighted to find out that even after he retires, his shoe line in Nike will continue perpetually.

In an interview with Sole Collector, Bryant was asked what will happen to his line after he says good bye to the court and to the Los Angeles Lakers. “We’ll remain extremely consistent with what we’ve been doing, which is creating innovative products that help athletes be the best versions of themselves. That’s not going to change. I don’t focus on how fashion changes. I only focus on creating innovative product,” he replied.

“Hopefully the consumer knows by now that if you’re buying a Kobe product, you’re buying something that’s been thought through. We pay attention to detail all the way through. You’re buying something that’s going to help you perform better. That’s not going to stop,” he added.

When further clarified if he means there will be Nike Kobe 12, 13, and so forth, the superstar answered, “Absolutely. We’ll continue to evolve. We’re going to continue to push and the line will keep growing.”

According to Fox Sports, Bryant follows the footsteps of Michael Jordan, the only player who has a similar deal with a major shoe manufacturer even though he has retired from the profession.

Meanwhile, Bryant recently commented about his relationship with Cleveland Cavaliers’ guard LeBron James ahead of his final match against the team. “We’ve been close. We talk more than people know,” Bryant.

Since he announced his imminent retirement, James also voiced out his admiration for the player. He previously stated, “Anytime I even watch his games, even when I’m not playing him, it’s always, like, very emotional just knowing it’s his last hurrah.”

“And he’s done so much, not only for the Lakers organization, but for me as a kid growing up watching Kobe and things of that nature and also competing against him,” he further reflected.
