'Kingdom Hearts 3' release date, updates: EB Games Australia denies listing title for Nintendo NX

EB Games Australia just debunked a rumor going around that “Kingdom Hearts 3” has been listed on their website as a Nintendo NX title.

A fan asked EB Games on Twitter if the listing is true, to which they responded and said negative. According to the tweet, “Kingdom Hearts 3” has never been listed on their website. They also claimed that there might be some Photoshop involved.

They also mentioned that “Kingdom Hearts 3” was never made available. Hence they would not have been able to remove it as some fans have suggested.

The rumor that the title is coming to Nintendo NX after having been exclusive to the PlayStation  (PS) stemmed from a supposed screenshot of its listing on the EB Games Australia website, which Vine Report previously covered.

The image quickly spread, which came as a shock because past titles never made it to Nintendo’s consoles save for Kingdom Hearts Recoded for the Nintendo DS and the Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance for the Nintendo 3DS.

Despite the rumor being widespread, Square Enix still has not given an official announcement regarding the title. Fans are still being kept in the dark about its target release date or any update. Many expected the developer to showcase it once again at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) as they did in last year’s event, but they instead showed off the “Kingdom Hearts 2.8” due for release in December 2016.

According to Attack of the Fanboy, the company is focusing on the launch of the title first before moving forward with “Kingdom Hearts 3.”

As for what can be expected in “Kingdom Hearts 2.8,” fans who play it will be able to learn more about the backstory of Aqua, a major character in the third major installment to the title. Co-director Tai Yasue claimed that appreciating where the character came from is crucial to the plot of “Kingdom Hearts 3.”
