'Kingdom Hearts 3' release date, news: Game ranks 7th in Famitsu's latest game chart despite delays

Despite the absence of an official release date, “Kingdom Hearts III” still ranks in the top 10 in Japanese magazine Famitsu’s most wanted games chart. The game is currently at number seven, and it is actually climbing up the chart. It barely made the top 10 in the last poll. It appears Famitsu’s readers can’t wait to get their hands on the game despite the wait.

Sources believe that “Final Fantasy XV’s” delayed release may have caused a domino effect on the other games Square Enix has been working on, including “Kingdom Hearts III.” The game’s director, Tetsuya Nomura, is also working as a designer on “Final Fantasy XV” so this rumor is definitely plausible.

Due to the delays with Square Enix’s games, some fans believe “Kingdom Hearts III” won’t come out until 2018 or even later. Several reports are also suggesting that Square Enix may be delaying the game on purpose to ramp up the hype. Based on the latest Famitsu poll, that seems to be working. It should be noted that this is just a rumor, though.

Meanwhile, “Kingdom Hearts III” will feature new worlds inspired by several Disney films like the Kingdom of Corona from “Tangled” and San Fransokyo from “Big Hero 6.”

Reports say worlds based on “Wreck-It-Ralph”, “Zootopia,” “Toy Story,” and “Star Wars” may also be included in the game. This will be an interesting addition to the game. As of this moment, Square Enix has yet to announce that these locations will be included in the game, so readers are advised to take this with a grain of salt.

Besides new worlds, “Kingdom Hearts III” will also feature several new characters and gameplay features. The game will be the first in the series to use the Unreal Engine 4, instead of the studio’s own Luminous engine. “Kingdom Hearts III” will be the final game in the Dark Seeker Saga.
