Canadian pop star Justin Bieber retweeted a post featuring a young social media star, 7-year-old John Philip Bughaw, dancing to his hit single “Sorry.”
Bieber commented “Kills it” on the post by Elle magazine on Feb. 1. Elle tweeted the link to their feature article with a caption: “This 7-Year-Old Dancing to Justin Bieber’s ‘Sorry’ Makes Everything Okay.”
The video was first uploaded by Bughaw on his Facebook account on Jan. 30. To date, the video has more than 133,000 likes, 184,000 comments and 14 million views. The video has also been shared on YouTube and has been getting a lot of views along with Bughaw’s other videos.
Bughaw, also known as Balang, has guested on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” twice last year. The young Filipino’s first appearance on the show was on May 14 and he revealed it was his first time to visit the U.S. He shared that his dream is to become a zumba instructor someday and that chocolates is what he was most excited about in his trip to America. He performed “Bang Bang” by Jessie J and ended his dance in a splitting position. He was given chocolates and a chocolate fountain by the show.
He was featured again on DeGeneres’ show on its Nov. 17 episode. When asked how he has been since his last guesting, he shared he had been recognized by more people and that he has also been asked to teach zumba where he got paid $80. On his second guesting, he performed to Beyonce’s “Single Ladies” and got a standing ovation from the audience. He also got to dance “Whip Nae” with dancer choreographer Twitch. He was given a stationary bicycle as a gift.
Balang has become a celebrity in the Philippines where he has been featured on local TV shows and newspapers. He has uploaded many videos of himself dancing and “Sorry” is his latest.
