“Jurassic World 2” is going to start filming early next year, so there will probably be a lot of casting calls to fill up several roles in the movie. While most casting calls and auditions are for minor roles, fan site Jurassic Outpost has uncovered something interesting.
The site says that an open casting call is being conducted right now in the United States and the United Kingdom for the role of Lucy. Here’s the breakdown:
“She is a young girl around 9 years of age. The girl playing ‘Lucy’ must be at least 9 years of age by February 2017, but cannot be over 10 years old. She must be a sensitive and clever actress capable of handling long and complex scenes. Lucy must be able to handle a range of emotions from tender moments with her father, to anxiety, bravery, and shock.”
The most important detail from that breakdown is the fact that the actress has to handle “long and complex scenes.” This means Lucy is probably a major character who is going to be in a lot of scenes.
Ryan Scott of MovieWeb pointed out that Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard are the only cast members from “Jurassic World” who are confirmed to appear in the sequel. This means there’s a chance Gray Mitchell (Ty Simpkins) and Zach Mitchell (Nick Robinson) won’t be in this movie. Is Lucy going to fill up the void left by the two characters?
Jurassic Outpost also revealed that production will take place in the United Kingdom from February to June 2017. The site previously reported that filming in Hawaii will begin on Feb. 27, 2017. Well, at least production is going to start next year, wherever that will be.
“Jurassic World 2” is scheduled to premiere on June 22, 2018, so it may take a while before it is revealed how Lucy fits into the storyline.
