“John Wick: Chapter Two” is set to premiere on Feb. 10, 2017, and fans can expect more action-packed scenes in the sequel.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, director Chad Stahelski stated that the sequel would feature more action compared to the first film. He also revealed that the film would open with a car chase scene.
“I would say we had twice as much action as the first movie. We took it all a full notch up as far as the driving car stuff went. A great portion of the car chase in the opening of the film is Keanu, which is very impressive,” he said.
The sequel will take fans deeper into the criminal underworld as John Wick (Keanu Reeves) continues to deal with the consequences of all the killing. While nobody is going to be killing his dog again, sources say Wick will still come out of retirement because he swore an oath to a former associate of his. Wick will allegedly travel to Europe to take on a group who wants to take over the assassins’ guild.
Ian McShane is back as Winston, the owner of the Continental Hotel where assassins can stay and conduct their business safely. Lance Reddick also returns as the concierge of the hotel. Furthermore, Bridget Moynahan returns to play John’s wife, Helen. Her role will probably include more flashbacks similar to the ones in the first film.
Other returning cast members include John Leguizamo and Thomas Sadoski. New additions include Common, Laurence Fishburne, Ruby Rose, Riccardo Scamarcio, and Peter Stormare.
During the interview with Entertainment Weekly, Stahelski said he loved working with Fishburne. He also revealed that Fishburne is going to play a character called “The Bowery King.”
Meanwhile, the first film footage will be showed at New York Comic Con during the Lionsgate panel on Oct. 9.
