With only two weeks left before the full release of Netflix Original Series’ “Marvel’s Jessica Jones,” the hype has been steadily increasing with the continuous release of promotional materials.
The streaming giant unveiled behind-the-scenes photos of the production showing the titular lead character Krysten Ritter alongside the big bad Kilgrave, also known as The Purple Man, to be portrayed by David Tennant. There were also some images of Mike Colter as Luke Cage, Rachael Taylor as Trish Walker, Carrie-Anne Moss, Eka Darville, Erin Moriarty and Wil Traval.
According to Game Spot, the 13-episode order has been loosely based on Marvel’s comic book titled “Alias” which ran for 28 issues from 2001 to 2004. The protagonist Jessica left her short-lived stint as a superhero when things ended tragically. She decided to become a private investigator in Hell’s Kitchen, New York City where Marvel’s “Daredevil” also resides.
Further down the pipeline, it is presumed that the two will meet alongside Luke Cage and “Iron Fist” to form the touted group of humans with enhanced abilities called “The Defenders.”
Meanwhile, the synopsis of the show revealed that Jessica will try to rebuild her life, “Plagued by self-loathing and a wicked case of PTSD, Jessica battles demons from within and without, using her extraordinary abilities as an unlikely champion for those in need. Especially if they’re willing to cut her a check.”
Talking to the Collider, Ritter said that she thinks her character is a good person at her core, “She goes about things in a very odd way, she’s very rough around the edges, and dry and sarcastic and a total asshole sometimes. But I think at her core she’s a good person.”
She added that during the premiere episode, they will not explain things to the viewers but will let them jump into Jessica’s world right away.
Jessica Jones is slated to air on November 20.
