The second season of Marvel’s “Jessica Jones” created for Netflix was confirmed as early as January of this year, but up to now, there still is no official air date. And while there’s been uncertainty and a bit of worry why Netflix hasn’t made a decision as to when to air season 2, the fact that teasers and promo images have been surfacing as of late is proof enough that a follow-up to the explosive season 1 finale is indeed happening.
One of the most recent rumors about season 2 of “Jessica Jones” is the return of another Marvel character, Luke Cage (Mike Colter). In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, showrunner Melissa Rosenberg said that there’s a good chance of Luke making a return and that Rosenberg will eventually have a sit down with Cheo Hodari Coker, the showrunner of a separate series that stars Colter in the same character.
In “Jessica Jones,” Krysten Ritter plays the lead role of an unlikely heroine who depends a lot on her alcohol addiction. Although the actress manages to make it a very interesting series on her own, her chemistry with Colter, as seen in the first season, is undeniable, which is why it shouldn’t be a surprise if the two are paired once again in season 2.
The character of Cage is portrayed as someone who is bulletproof and has abnormal strength. He resides in the city of Harlem and is duty-bound to keep it safe from bad guys and criminals. He and Jones came to meet each other in the first season of “Jessica Jones” and eventually became more than friends.
Aside from their respective TV shows, both characters will be making an appearance in the 2017 Marvel-Netflix series collaboration, “The Defenders,” along with Daredevil (Charlie Cox) and Iron Fist (Finn Jones).
The official announcement of the season 2 air date of “Jessica Jones” is expected to be made soon.
