With season 2 of “Jessica Jones” still due for 2018, rumors have started to appear concerning its plot. The latest one confirms the return of a vital character.

According to EW, David Tennant will return as Kilgrave to make Jessica Jones’ (Krysten Ritter) life harder. The news comes with Tennant and Ritter posing for a shot while on the set for “Jessica Jones.” Before appearing in the Netflix series, Tennant also starred in “Doctor Who,” serving as the lead character’s 10th incarnation from 2005 to 2010.

As the villain Kilgrave, Tennant holds the power of mind control, and he effectively tormented Jessica. His dominance over the protagonist ended when the latter grew immune to his powers. Jessica killed Kilgrave by snapping his neck in the Season 1 finale. Tennant convincingly portrayed Jessica’s nemesis. It was said to be so good that it got viewers hooked to the series.

Despite the confirmation of Kilgrave’s comeback, a lot of fans remain clueless as to how he will return to the picture. The people behind the series did not give details about Kilgrave’s return. However, can certainly expect his reentry to be epic, to say the least.

Meanwhile, the Nerdist came up with possible scenarios that would seamlessly insert Kilgrave back into the show. The report speculated that Kilgrave could torment Jessica again, but only in her mind. With the villain’s impressive powers, he could still haunt the hero, even without a physical body.

Another is through flashbacks, back when he was still able to control Jessica. This is perhaps the most plausible way of getting Kilgrave back into the storyline. Moreover, the report also raised the possibility of Kilgrave either faking his death or resurrecting from the grave. Knowing how things can work within the Marvel universe, any of these speculations can be considered.

Before the show returns, Jessica Jones will appear this Friday, Aug. 18, in Marvel’s “The Defenders” on Netflix. She will cross paths with fellow superheroes Daredevil, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist.

“Jessica Jones” season 2 will premiere early next year on Netflix.
