Actress Jessica Biel is back on the small screen with a dark role to play.
The new crime thriller anthology is based on Petra Hammesfahr’s best-selling novel, “The Sinner.”
Biel plays a young, lovable mother named Cora, who committed a dreadful act of violence at a public beach. Cora confesses that she stabbed the victim to his death, but she has no idea why she did it. She never met the man before in her life.
Detective Harry Ambrose (Bill Pullman) thinks that impulse and emotion drove the woman to kill someone. He then becomes obsessed with the case and delves into Cora’s life, psyche, and the violent secrets of her past.
“I’ve never had too much trouble letting work stay at work and honestly, you don’t really have the choice,” Biel shared to Entertainment Tonight.
The 35-year-old star is married to singer and actor Justin Timberlake since 2012. They are parents to Silas Randall Timberlake, who just celebrated his second birthday on April 8.
“You have to get home. Someone needs dinner, someone needs to get their pajamas on, then get in the bath, then get into bed and you can’t be smoldering in the corner like, ‘Oh, this scene I did!’” said the “7th Heaven” alum.
Biel stated that her husband has been very supportive of her new TV project, in which she also serves as one of the executive producers.
“He knows how much the material is interesting to me and what a great opportunity this is for me to do something really different,” she confirmed. Biel added that Timberlake applauds the show for its creativity.
In her separate interview with E! News, Biel stated that motherhood made her more emotional and sensitive. She feels that she is now ready to take any roles.
“The Sinner” premiered on April 25 at the 2017 Tribeca Film Festival. It will air on USA Network soon.
