'Jeepers Creepers 3' release date rumors, update: third film is a go despite director's controversy

Since the announcement of a third “Jeepers Creepers” film back in September of last year, very few information and updates surfaced online in a span of almost a year. While it is true that filming started in April and that Jonathan Beck is reprising his role as “The Creeper,” nothing more concrete or official so far could prove that the upcoming film is making progress, until now.

Good news for the fans of “The Creeper,” an official poster of the film was released recently, brightening up hopes that more details will follow sooner than later. A movie poster is exactly what fans needed after almost losing hope amid speculations that the third installment may never be in existence.

But according to director Victor Salva, via Movie Pilot, the controversy and mystery surrounding the film will finally be answered once it hits the big screen. “What will go before cameras as Jeepers Creepers 3 is a new and terrifying chapter from the Jeepers universe. We are bringing back the Creeper’s truck, and will be addressing the big questions about The Creeper: what it is, where it came from and why it does what it does,” Salva said.

He also added that this one’s going to be the “most frightening” of all the films in the franchise.

The issue about the movie getting axed began when Salva’s past conviction was revealed, prompting the entire production crew to halt the casting process, and in the process delaying the filming of the upcoming horror flick. It also didn’t help that the Union of British Columbia Performers, as filming was done in British Columbia, Canada, issued a warning about Salva’s previous sex crime conviction.

And while there still is no official release date for “Jeepers Creepers 3,” it now has become apparent that the movie is indeed happening.
