'Jane the Virgin' season 3 spoilers: Jane has to make some difficult decisions in season premiere

Season 2 of “Jane the Virgin” ended on a shocking cliffhanger which saw Michael (Brett Dier) getting shot before he and Jane (Gina Rodriguez) got to spend their first night together as man and wife. When the show returns, Jane will be faced with some difficult choices after what happened to her new husband.

In the promo for the season 3 premiere episode, Jane is seen rushing to Michael’s side after finding him down on the ground, and at the hospital, she asks the doctor if he’ll be alright. The doctor doesn’t seem to think that Michael’s chances are good and Jane appears to be shocked at what she heard. Later, Jane cries as she approaches Michael on his hospital bed, and she tells him that this is not the end of their story.

According to the official description for the episode, Jane finds herself having to make difficult choices in the premiere titled “Chapter Forty-Five.” Does this decision have something to do with a potentially dangerous medical procedure to save Michael’s life?

Meanwhile, Rafael (Justin Baldoni) is focused on keeping baby Mateo safe, while Anezka (Yael Grobglas), who is pretending to be Petra, pretends to help the cops with their investigation. But it doesn’t take long before everyone starts to notice that Petra is not herself.

The family rallies around Jane as Rogelio (Jaime Camil) tries to keep everything out of the press to protect his daughter, but in order to do so, he finds himself in a difficult position and asks for Xo’s (Andrea Navedo) help.

It is expected that things are going to get awkward between Rogelio and Xo as she just turned down the chance to be with him again last season since she didn’t want to have another baby. Complicating matters is the fact that Xo is pregnant with the child of Rogelio’s greatest rival, Esteban (Keller Wortham). But it’s likely that they’ll put their differences aside for the sake of their daughter.

“Jane the Virgin” season 3 premieres on Monday, Oct. 17 at 9 p.m. ET on The CW.
