Music stars Gloria and Emilio Estefan will guest star in the upcoming season 3 of the CW’s soap opera “Jane the Virgin.”
According to Billboard, the Hispanic power couple will make a cameo as Rogelio de la Vega’s (Jaime Camil) best friends. The latter will ask them in helping him adapt a Latin telenovela for American audiences. They will appear in the new run’s third episode directed by Eva Longoria. However, the Cuban-American musicians will not perform on the show.
The first sneak peek of the new installment has been released recently. Titled “Magical Beginnings, Tragic Endings,” the clip begins with Jane (Gina Rodriguez) and Michael’s (Brett Dier) wedding. The narrator says, “Every great romance has a magical beginning but some have tragic endings,” before showing the scene where Michael was suddenly shot.
The footage ends with a tease of a potential tear-jerker episode as Michael lies on a hospital bed, and Jane visits him.
Elsewhere, the narrative is also expected to give light on Xiomara Villanueva’s (Andrea Navedo) pregnancy. It can be recalled that she broke up with Rogelio back in season 2 because they have different plans. The latter wants to have more babies while she does not. But fate had it planned that Xo suddenly found out she is expecting with Esteban Santiago’s (Keller Wortham) child, who happens to be Rogelio’s arch nemesis.
Showrunner Jennie Snyder Urman told The Hollywood Reporter that they will answer the fans’ speculations when season 3 hits the small screen. Urman said: “We always knew that we wanted Xo to not want to have a baby and then we were trying to figure out how we were going to be ending her story. If she got pregnant with Rogelio’s nemesis, it would be very shocking to her and to the audience and also she doesn’t want to have a baby so that’s definitely going to be something that we dive into.”
The third season of “Jane the Virgin” is slated to premiere on Monday, Oct. 17, at 9 p.m. EDT.
