“Jane the Virgin” will be returning for its third season in a few weeks and fans are now waiting to see whether Michael (Brett Dier) survived after being shot by Rose (Bridge Regan) in the finale. While many thought that Jane (Gina Rodriguez) and Michael won’t get to live their happily ever after following their marriage in season 2, recent evidence on social media shows that Dier’s character may be alive and well after all.
Series star Andrea Navedo (Xiomara) took to Instagram on Aug. 9 to post a new photo from their table read for episode 1. Navedo captioned the shot, “Table read happening now for season 3 episode one of @cwjanethevirgin #janethevirgin #wooHoo good stuff coming!” Dier can be seen looking at Navedo’s camera, and the actor is seated beside Justin Baldoni (Rafael).
Another photo from the table read posted on Twitter by the writers also showed Dier and Baldoni sitting together, and seated in front of them is co-star Jaime Camil (Rogelio). The snap was captioned, “All smiles on a Monday.”
Fans were overjoyed over the actor’s presence at the table read, saying on Navedo’s Instagram that Michael is alive. However, nothing is set in stone until the season 3 premiere, as showrunner Jennie Snyder Urman previously told Entertainment Weekly, “You’re going to have to wait until the third season to find out. You’ll find out right when we get back within the first act.”
Rodriguez recently told Parade that season 3 is “really good” and that fans are in for a “really, really strong” season.
“There’s going to be a lot of growth, a lot of character growth for everyone in the cast,” said the actress. “And you know, in true ‘Jane’ fashion, it’s going to be a roller coaster!”
Apart from Michael’s survival, fans are also waiting to see what Xiomara will do about her pregnancy, since she found out in the finale that she is pregnant and that Rogelio’s rival is the father of the child. Meanwhile, it has been reported that an old crush of Jane’s named Sam (guest star Miles Gaston Villanueva) will be arriving in season 3, and according to TVLine, his connection to Jane has a surprising impact on the present.
“Jane the Virgin” season 3 premieres on Oct. 17 on The CW.
