iPhone SE release date: Apple officially announces March 21 event


Apple finally revealed the official date for its long rumored launch event for the month of March, where a number of new devices and updates are expected to be unveiled. Long rumored to be a March 15 date, then followed by a March 25 rumor, Apple finally made the official announcement for the event that will take place on March 21an occasion where the company will “loop people in.”

According to a report by Engadget, Apple officially announced the spring launch event since the tech company has kept a consistent pattern of conducting spring launch events yearly. While no specifics were detailed for the event, Apple is expecting to do something to their fans for the event”let us loop you in,” the promotional teaser for the event said.

Among other updates and reveals, the March 21 launch event is expected to launch the long rumored 4-inch iPhone. This device will mark the return of compact iPhones, a different take on the consistently expanding display size threads for smartphones. The new 4-inch iPhone is expected to be called the iPhone 5se, or as recent rumors had pointed out, simply as the iPhone SE, an acronym for “Special Edition.” The device is expected to sport a look that is greatly similar to the 2013 release that is the iPhone 5s, with some of its hardware specifications similar to the iPhone 6s. The device is also expected to support NFC and Apple Pay features.

Another device expected to be launched during the event is the iPad Air 3, which most recent reports have pointed out to be a 9.7-inch variant of the iPad Pro instead, removing the “Air” branding on it. The upcoming tablet is expected to sport similar features as that of the large 12.9-inch Pro tablet.
