iPhone news: Apple may be working towards release of new 4-inch 'iPhone 6c' in 2016

If recent reports are to be believed, it seems like Apple is cooking a smaller phone with a 4-inch display in what purportedly will be called the iPhone 6c.

The persistent rumors have started just after the tech giant released the new iPhone 6. The upcoming handset is reportedly having features similar in characteristics with the iPhone 5S with Touch ID. An improved FaceTime experience is also to be expected with an HD camera with f/2.2 aperture. It will have support for 802.11 ac Wi-Fi and 4.1 Bluetooth wireless standards. However, it is also noted that the new iPhone smartphone will not come with 3D Touch display which is the crowning glory feature of the Cupertino-based company in their newest handset models like the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. The 3D Touch feauture allows the user to hard press a particular option and have quick access to the application’s basic menu. On the outside, the device is rumored to be in a metal casing. Inside, it will have various sensors, circuits, and processors respectively.

IHS analyst Kevin Wang has also revealed that the iPhone 6c is looking to hit the shelves in the middle of 2016. Furthermore, KGI analyst Ming Chi Kuo, who has been known as a reliable insider when it comes to Apple devices, is disclosing that the new phone will be projected as a budget phone. Apple is looking to roll out around 20 to 30 million units by the end of next year with an early first half release.

If this project finally gets an official acknowledgement from Apple, this is the second attempt of the company in building a budget phone the iPhone5C being its first, which unfortunately flopped in the market. This is considered a good business move for the company as it will give their phone line up variations which will expand their targeted market.
