Reports regarding the upcoming iteration of the iPhone are once again hot in the rumor mill, as a new report suggested that the device will offer a bigger premium version featuring a new camera technology that will be the first of its kind.
In a new investors note released by well-connected KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuovia a report by Apple Insiderit was hinted that Apple may very well be working on introducing a premium version of the bigger iPhone 7 Plus, one that features a dual rear camera set up and optical zoom feature.
According to the new report, Kuo said that Apple is planning to release two variants of the upcoming iPhone 7 simultaneously upon launch. While that may be a common release setup for the company already, Kuo added that there will be something new.
The iPhone 7 is rumored to be coming with the usual iSight camera. However, the iPhone 7 Plusmight be sporting a dual camera rear setup the analyst said. The technology had been rumored to be coming to Apple devices since 2014, but it never went into fruition.
The dual camera setup is said to be be being developed by LinX Imaging, a company acquired by Apple last year. The cameras are expected to be both 12 megapixelsone will have an Optical Image Stabilization feature with a wider field of view for the lens, and the other will be a telephoto lens coming with 2 to 3x optical zoom featuresomething that is another first in any Apple device, should it prove to be true.
