iPhone 7 rumors: Apple may ditch the headphone jack in favor of an all-in-one lightning connector

Apple has been the center of countless speculations the past year, from their laptops to their tablets. However, their smartphone line is arguably the most popular in terms of speculations.

The Cupertino-based company usually releases their flagship devices towards the end of the year, a good example is the recently launched iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, which hit the shelves last September. Given this, people can expect that the new flagship, iPhone 7, might be launched in the same time this year.

However, just because it is still months away, this does not mean that people cannot discuss the possibilities of the new phone. The waterproof casing has been a persistent rumor as well as the unknown substance which will house the phone. Another rumored big change is Apple’s supposed decision to get rid of the device’s earphone jack.

Towards the end of the year, Japanese website Mac Otakara reported that the tech giant might introduce an all-in-one Lightning connector that might be used for both connectivity and audio output. A separate report by Chinese Websites Anzhuo.com and Wei Feng said that in connection with the new universal jack, Apple is also looking to release their Bluetooth Headphones. Although these are unconfirmed as of the moment, it should be noted that a single connector might be logical if the iPhone 7 shall debut with waterproofing features.

On top of this, wireless charging may also be introduced to make sure that users of the phone can charge the phone while their headphones are plugged in as noted by Mac Rumors.
