Is the iPad Pro 2 out yet? Unfortunately, the answer to that question is no. Industry insiders believe the next-generation iPad Pro may hit the market next year during a launch event in March. Potential buyers have to wait months before it comes out; however, sources believe Apple may introduce the device before the year ends.
Reports have been saying three versions of the iPad Pro 2 will be available. Besides the 12.9-inch and 9.7-inch versions, a new 10.5-inch model will also be introduced.
Back in August, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that he expected Apple to include a 10.5-inch tablet in its new iPad Pro lineup next year since it would attract buyers in the commercial and education sectors.
It is rumored that the iPad Pro 2 may be water-resistant like the iPhone 7. It may also ditch the traditional 3.5 mm headphone jack. Furthermore, Apple may put their True Tone display technology on the iPad Pro 2 since it is already included in the 9.7-inch iPad Pro launched last March. This feature allows the display to adjust its lighting to match the natural ambient light around it.
Reports say the 12.9-inch and 10.5-inch iPad Pro 2 models will be shipped with an A10X chipset, while the lower cost 9.7-inch model will use an A9X processor. Others believe all three variants will use the A10X. The tablet will also feature improved support for the Apple Pencil. Improvements on the device’s display are also expected so panning, zooming and scrolling will be easier on the new iPad Pro.
Sources believe the iPad Pro 2 will cost the same as the current iPad Pro, which is priced at $599 for the 9.7-inch version and $799 for the 12.9-inch one. Insiders still don’t have a guess for the 10.5-inch model’s price.
Apple has yet to confirm or deny the existence of the iPad Pro 2, so the release dates and specs mentioned are all speculations and rumors as of this moment.
