iPad Air 3 release date, specs: tablet to be offered at budget-friendly price, device launch in March 2017?

Is the latest iteration of the iPad Air coming in 2017? Previous rumors claimed that the next-generation tablet, the iPad Air 3, was going to be launched at an Apple event earlier this month, but only the iPhone 7 and the Apple Watch Series 2 were announced on Sept. 7. Not even a single tablet from Apple’s various tablet lineups was seen at the event, but new rumors claim that the device might make an appearance at another launch this coming spring, and moreover, the iPad Air 3 is said to be offered at a budget-friendly price.

According to The Reporter Times, the reason for the expected lower price of the upcoming device is that the tablet market has slowed down in the recent years. It was claimed that the iPad Air 3 could be in the range of $380 for the standard 16 GB model. It was said that it could likely cost about $500 if the device is released this year, but it could cost lower if it is released in 2017.

While Apple has yet to comment on the rumors, it appears that the company is preparing to upgrade its iPad Air line as it quietly updated its current device, the iPad Air 2, following the iPhone 7 launch. As seen on Apple’s iPad page, it was revealed that the iPad Air 2’s base storage has been bumped up from 16 GB to 32 GB. But the change did not affect the pricing, as customers can now get twice as much storage for their money’s worth.

It is unknown if the Cupertino-based company will still offer a 16 GB option for the iPad Air 3, but it is expected that the device will have a 9.7-inch screen and will be powered by the A9X processor. It was also said that the device will be even thinner than its predecessor and will be available in a variety of color options, including Gold, Silver, Space Grey, and a new Rose Gold variant. As for its launch date, it was claimed that the iPad Air 3 could be launched in March 2017.
