Rumors of specs and even its release date continue for the iPad Air 3 despite the uncertain fate of the tablet lineup since its absence during Apple’s low-key media event back in March.
This time, various reports are suggesting that the supposed device will sport mechanical input much like the Apple Watch. The iPad Air 3 is expected to have a digital crown, as seen on the tech giant’s smartwatch. However, no further reasoning was disclosed on what exactly the new feature will mean for the tablet. What’s interesting about this brand-new theory is the reasoning behind wanting to adapt a feature from what could soon be an old iteration of the Apple Watch. It is no secret that a new version of the wearable device is due later this year.
On top of that, Apple’s continued desire for thinner and lighter gadgets will also be applicable to the iPad Air 3. Theories claim that the upcoming iteration of the tablet will be significantly slimmer than its predecessor.
As for the release date, since there are only a few months left in 2016, rumor has it that the tablet will come sometime this fall. The forthcoming iPhone 7 is tipped to come out next month with leaks saying that it will finally have a retail rollout on Sept. 16. Given this, the media launch for this year’s top-tier smartphone from the Cupertino-based company will probably be a week or two earlier than that. While Apple may actually have the iPad Air 3 release alongside the iPhone 7, industry experts are leaning towards an October introduction instead.
Of course, all these are pure speculations so Apple loyalists are cautioned to take these rumors with a grain of salt. Especially since Apple has remained mum about the future of the Air tablet lineup. For months now, there has been a buzz saying that the tech giant is just waiting to sell all of their remaining Air products and that they have no intention of continuing its development.
