A new trailer for the highly anticipated sequel “Injustice 2” has been released, featuring the arrival of two new playable characters.
Publisher Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and developer NetherRealm Studios took to this year’s San Diego Comic-Con to showcase the successor to “Injustice: Gods Among Us.” Although a previous promotional clip had already teased the upcoming iteration, the new video is deemed to be interesting as it confirms that Wonder Woman and Blue Beetle will be part of the roster.
In the preview, Gorilla Grodd can be seen battling Wonder Woman, “Your mind tricks won’t harm me. Did I mention I’m an Amazon?” she warns her opponent. Meanwhile, another fight scene has the Amazon princess confronting Blue Beetle. “Batman sends a child against me? Let see what you can do,” she mocks him.
Some reports note that it will be interesting to see how the two incorporate their weapons and abilities into every face-off. Wonder Woman is equipped with her sword and shield, and Blue Beetle has super strength and flight. The latter also has a weapon creation ability included in his character’s move set.
Meanwhile, the developers mentioned during the Comic-Con that it is unlikely that Scorpion from “Mortal Kombat” will be joining the game again. But fans may be delighted to know that they are open to possibility of welcoming another familiar character from the said franchise.
Talking to IGN, NetherRealm Studios creative director Ed Boon revealed that they are also working on a mobile app for the upcoming title. It was originally announced that the game would become available only for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but he also stated that it could potentially come out for the PC.
“In ‘Injustice 2’, we are introducing new features that will change the way fans play fighting games. We’re always interested in pushing the genre forward and allowing players to customize and level-up their favorite DC Super Heroes and Super-Villains is a significant leap,” Boon said in a statement.
“Injustice 2” is expected to launch sometime in 2017.
