'Injustice 2' release news: Director Ed Boon took to Twitter to ask which Red Hood fans want

Could “Injustice 2” be adding Red Hood to its roster, or is NetherRealm Studios founder Ed Boon just teasing fans of the game?

Boon posted a poll on his Twitter page on Aug. 12, asking fans which version of the Red Hood they want to see: Jason Todd or the Joker.

The final tally shows Jason Todd leading by a wide margin. It is understandable why fans want Todd as the Red Hood. After all, the masked vigilante did give Batman a run for his money in the DC comic book storyline “Batman: Under the Hood.”

Todd originally trained with Batman and became the second character to take up the name Robin after Dick Grayson became Nightwing and joined the Teen Titans. He was seemingly killed during the “Batman: A Death in the Family” storyline. Before the storyline came out, DC comics actually held a poll to determine whether or not he would be killed by the Joker. He was killed by a slim margin of 72 votes (5,343 for, 5,271 against).

On the other hand, the Joker used the name red hood when he was starting out in his criminal career, before an accident transformed him into the Joker.

“Injustice 2” is the long awaited sequel to 2013’s “Injustice: Gods Among Us,” which features a Superman who becomes a dictator after Joker kills Lois Lane and destroys Metropolis. His actions force Batman to lead a group of insurgents to fight against his dictatorship. The game has also spawned a comic book series.

“Injustice 2” is expected to hit the shelves in 2017.
