'Hunter X Hunter' manga update, rumors: Newest 'Hunter' art featured in Shinj? City magazine, manga to continue with new writers?

“Hunter X Hunter” fans, have no fear! Yoshihiro Togashi is still drawing!

News from Comic Natalie about the most recent artwork by Togashi, which was featured on the cover of the K?h? Shinj? magazine’s August issue was shared online. This is the city’s official public relations magazine that every household in Shinj? gets to enjoy monthly. Unfortunately, the publication does not ship to other regions and will most likely be available to non-residents only through digital public records. Taking a visit to the Shinj? City Hall to take a peek at a copy also sounds like a good plan.

The artwork featured “Hunter X Hunter’s” main characters, Gon, Killua, Kurapika, and Leorio seemingly caught in a scuffle against a festival float that appeared to have just turned alive, while double-star hunter Biscuit watched from the background. The dog that has appeared as a representation of the author in many short instances in both the 1999 anime adaptation and its 2011 reboot, could also be seen loitering in the foreground with his tongue playfully hanging out.

Togashi hails from Shinj? and has also designed the city’s official mascot, Kamuten, back in 1994.

There is still no news about the author’s health condition. He previously went on a two-year hiatus in 2014 due to chronic back pains, and then again in June of this year just after roughly three months of resuming publication. These frequent breaks in the publication of the chapters, which is currently stalled at 360, have been giving fans cause to worry about the future of the manga series.

In an article published by RocketNews24 last month after reaching out to “Hunter X Hunter” publisher Shueisha, it was reported that Togashi’s back pain has gotten worse, resulting to another indefinite hiatus.

There has even been rumors that Togashi’s wife, Naoko Takeuchi has been the one doing artwork for “Hunter X Hunter’s” more recent chapters. Takeuchi is also a well-known manga artist who created the widely popular Sailor Moon series.

Other rumors are claiming that Shueisha is thinking of letting Togashi go in favor of a new batch of writers who could better meet the weekly deadline. Togashi might also be relegated to consultant once his health improves. Chapter 361 might also be released in early 2017.

There has been no official statement yet from the author and his publisher in response to these rumors.

For now, fans will just have to settle for the K?h? Shinj? cover art to satisfy their “Hunter X Hunter” cravings.
