Huawei recently unveiled two brand-new flagship models dubbed as P9 and P9 Plus featuring powerful dual cameras engineered by Leica.
According to Ars Technica, the touted main selling point of the devices is a pair of a Leica Summarit H 1:2.2/27 lenses with f/2.2 aperture and 27mm focal length, mated to 12-megapixel Sony 12-megapixel IMX286 sensors. One sensor is said to record in full RGB, while the other is in monochrome which lets 300 percent more light for better low light conditions photography and faster focus. Both have the same 1.25-micropixels and can reportedly gather 270 percent more light than Apple iPhone 6S.
When it comes to other features, the P9 and P9 Plus almost have identical specifications with the difference found in the dimension, size of screen displays, and onboard memory storage.
The Huawei P9 has the measurements of 145mm x 70.9mm x 6.95mm and weighs 144g, while its bigger iteration has a 152.3mm x 75.3mm x 6.98mm body and tips the scale off to 162g. Both are made of full metal materials with fingerprint sensor located at the back. The former is being offered in various colors – Haze Gold, Ceramic White, Rose Gold, Prestige Gold, Titanium Grey and Mystic Silver, while the latter can be purchased in Haze Gold, Quartz Grey, or Ceramic White.
The display of the smaller model comes in 5.2-inch full high definition LDC that has the density of 424 pixel-per-inch, 96 percent color saturation, and 500nits brightness. The Plus version, on the other hand, has a 5.5-inch screen, lower density of 401ppi, but display made of Super AMOLED, making colors richer and more vibrant. It also has Press Touch offering two levels of pressure sensitivity supported by 18 native applications included out of the box.
Under the hood, both handhelds are powered by octa-core 64-bit Kirin 955 chipset but P9 is available in two models. One has 32GB internal memory with 3GB RAM, while the other has 64GB and 4GB RAM, the two are expandable via microSD card slot and also supports USB Type-C and 3000mAh battery. The P9 Plus only comes in one variant which sports 64GB base storage partnered with 4GB RAM. It also has the aforementioned ports and a slightly larger battery at 3400mAh.
Starting price for the P9 is 599 euros (around $685), while the P9 Plus is at 749 euros (around $855).
