HTC has unveiled its brand new U11 Eyes smartphone, which features dual front cameras designed take incredible selfies that feature bokeh effects and refocusing after capture.
The U11 Eyes sport two front-facing 5-megapixel (MP) cameras, which may have inspired the unusual name of the smartphone. The cameras are located at the top bezel of the phone, and they support HDR boost and a bokeh mode. The latter allows users to adjust the depth-of-field of the photographs, both in real time and after the phone has been snapped. The phone also includes a beauty mode. This, on the other hand, further increases the quality of selfies that the users take.
Aside from high-quality photos, HTC is offering more fun ways to enjoy selfies. They have incorporated a number of augmented reality stickers that users can use when taking pictures. This is similar to what Snapchat and Facebook offer. The HTC feature allows users to add virtual accessories or costumes to the photos. Users can add hats, facial hair, bunny ears, and other fun stuff to their portraits.
Aside from the selfie camera, the U11 Eyes also sports a powerful 12 MP camera on its rear. The sensor also features an aperture of f/1.7 and has optical image stabilization and 4K video recording.
The new smartphone has a 6-inch LCD with 2160 by 1080 pixels (1080p) resolution. It is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 652 processor and 4 gigabytes (GB) of random access memory (RAM). It also has a massive 3,930mAh battery that would allow users to maximize its modern camera capabilities without running out of juice.
The HTC U11 Eyes utilizes its powerful front cameras to support the face unlock feature. The phone also has HTC’s signature edge sense feature, which allows users to launch apps or perform other functions by squeezing the sides of the phone.
The U11 Eyes come in a sturdy frame that is water and dust resistant, while its external appearance takes after the shiny liquid design that was featured in earlier U11 smartphones.
The HTC U11 Eyes will be available in Hong Kong and China this month. It has not been confirmed if the new smartphone will get a global release.
