The upcoming handheld device from HTC, dubbed as “One A9”, has already been listed on the official website of service carrier AT&T as one of the smartphones that will be launched on Friday, November 6. Reports claim that pre-orders will have the price of $399 but it will increase to a regular retail tag of $499 starting November 7.
AT&T offers different options that may meet the consumer’s purchasing ability such as a two-year plan for $99, month plan of $17.34 for 30 months, $21.67 for 24 months and $26 for 20 months. If the buyer prefers a prepaid phone, some units are also available for the amount of $519.99. The color of the body will have two variants Opal Silver and Carbon Gray with presumably more choices including Deep Garnet and Topaz Gold arriving at the end of the year.
Announced in October 20, the specifications of One A9 includes a dimension of 7.26mm thickness and weight of 143g. The screen comes in 5-inch full high-definition AMOLED display in 1080 x 1920 resolution and covered in Corning Gorilla Glass 4. The camera has 13-megapixel capacity for the back lens that features dual-tone LED flash, Sony sensor, optical image stabilization, aperture of f/2.0 and the ability to shoot in RAW format. The front-facing one the same UltraPixel lens found in One M9.
Under the hood, it will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 SoC, combined with 3 GB of RAM and have the maximum built-in memory of 32GB. There is also a less powerful one at 2GB RAM with 16GB memory. The storage is expandable up to 200GB via a microSD card slot. The battery has a life of 2150 mAh that supports Quick Charge 2.0.
When it comes to the operating system, One A9 will have Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box while HTC’s own Sense 7 will be incorporated on top.
For added features, it will have a fingerprint scanner which can be used both as a phone lock and home button, 4G LTE connectivity and 24-bit high-resolution sound with Dolby Audi surround.
