In the age of selfies, companies are constantly innovating their technologies to provide the best camera features for a generation addicted taking photographs.
There are two standouts in the bid to be crowned the best selfie smartphone in the market — the Asus Zenfone Selfie and the HTC Desire Eye which both boast of extraordinary functionalities that ensure users get the perfect shot.
The Asus Zenfone Selfie flaunts a 5.5-inch IPS LCD display and two 13 megapixel camera with LED real tone flash at 1920×1080 resolution with a pixel density of 403ppi. The back camera includes laser focus technology for dim places while the front camera enables wider and clearer scenic shots with its 88 degree field of view and 140 degree panorama shots, reported Expert Reviews UK.
It also has TruVivid technology which brings out best quality in each photo as well as a beauty filter called Zen UI Beautification mode which can slim down cheeks, improve skin tone, and soften facial features. It also comes with integrated swinging arm technology which can be extended and held upright, similar to a selfie stick, reported by Tech News Today.
This feature will lessen the need for selfie stick but can make the phone heavier. Nonetheless, because of its compact chassis technology, it should only feel like a 5.0 inch phone. For its hardware, it will have octacore with Adreno 405 GPU and Snapdragon 615 processor at 1.7 GHz. It will have a 2GB RAM and an external memory slot which is expandable up to 64GB. It will be operated by an Android Lollipop 5.0 operating system and a 3,000 mAh battery.
On the other hand, HTC Desire Eye is at 5.2-inch full HD display, also at 1920×1080 resolution but a higher pixel density of 424ppi. It also has 13 megapixel capacity for both the front and rear cameras. It will also have beautification kits but has reported problems in the front camera’s focus for very near facial shots. The back camera and indoor shots, however, have given nice outputs, as observed by Expert Reviews.
Despite Zenfone selfie being lighter than its expected weight, HTC Desire Eye is even lighter and thinner at 154g and 8.5mm depth compared to Zenfone’s 170g and 10.5mm depth. In terms of hardware, HTC Desire Eye runs on quadcore with Snapdragon 810 processor and Adreno 330 GPU at 2.3 GHz. For its storage, the phone has 2 GB RAM and external memory slot expandable up to 128 GB. It is operated by Android 4.4 Kitkat operating system and 2,400 mAh.
Despite HTC Desire Eye being called the best selfie phone, the Zenfone selfie puts up some strong competition. HTC Desire Eye may need to upgrade and improve their front camera’s focus for users to continue preferring their handset over Zenfone while it will depend on Zenfone’s pricing as the competition is cutthroat between the two devices.
