Season 3 of the acclaimed American drama television series, “How to Get Away with Murder” finally gets its premiere date, with lead actress Viola Davis revealing via social media that the show will be returning on Sept. 22.
Davis, who plays Annalise Keating in the series, also brought along with her a new promotional poster for the upcoming season, with an intriguing bunch of supporting characters drenched in blood. Now that’s how the show has been luring in interested viewers after just two seasons. The showcase of a fiery Annalise and her students soaked in blood represents how extreme the events in the upcoming season could be.
Executive producer Peter Nowalk told Entertainment Weekly in March that the students of Annalise will be competing with each other in order to impress her after Frank, played by Charlie Weber, made his exit in the second season. According to him, each character has his or her own way of outwitting the others. Well, that could very well be showcased this upcoming season.
Meanwhile, it shouldn’t be that much of a surprise if Annalise and her students will once again encounter more anonymity next season, but the constant influx of mysteries to solve could change Annalise, but the question is will it be for the better or for worse?
To recall, the second season ended with the murder of Wallace Mahoney (Adam Arkin), so it makes total sense to speculate that the third season will kick off where the story left. Will the first episode reveal the killer or will it be another set of twists that could cover the entirety of the next season?
There are a lot of possibilities, and while Frank himself is the easiest guy to pin the murder on, it certainly feels like it is way too simple for that. There could be more to it than meets the eye, which is why the cliffhanger in the finale is one of the best in television so far this year.
Season 3 of “How to Get Away with Murder” premieres on Sept. 22 on ABC.
