In light of the nearing premiere of “How to Get Away with Murder” season 3, lead star Viola Davis took to her social media account to promote the upcoming installment of the legal drama.
The actress who plays prominent criminal defense attorney Annalise Keating posted a promotional photo for the show’s newest season on her Twitter account. The snap includes the Keating 5 in white ensembles seemingly with traces of blood, and with Davis at the center wearing a striking red dress. She captioned it, “Mark your calendars! #HTGAWM returns on Thursday, Sept 22nd at 10PM! #TGIT #85Days #AnnaliseKeating #Keating5”
In true Shondaland fashion, “How to Get Away with Murder” had a very dramatic sophomore season finale. The structure of Annalise’s firm became much more dysfunctional when it was revealed that her right-hand man Frank (Charlie Webber) had a pivotal role in her life-threatening accident a decade ago. While she was able to survive the mishap, the law professor did not come out of it unscathed as she had lost her unborn baby in the process. Given how ruthless she can be, she took it out on Bonnie (Liza Weil) and told her that Frank needed to go; Laurel (Karla Souza) later on discovered that Frank had already left.
However, it appears that Frank’s absence from the chaos of Annalise and the Keating 5 will not last very long as Weber previously dished to TV Line that he is still very much part of the upcoming season. Although, when asked about the specifics, her remained coy about it saying that he is not entirely sure what will happen to Frank.
Nevertheless, now that the immediate spot beside Annalise is open; fans are wondering who will step up in the ranks and take Frank’s place. Executive producer Pete Nowalk told Entertainment Weekly that everyone in the group can do a specific job at a time. However, no one can really fill the void that Frank left given how special his bond is with Annalise.
“He was a very specific role in Annalise’s life. The fact that she had such control over him obviously she didn’t know where that came from but that he’s willing to do any bad thing for her, I don’t know if anyone else in the firm would go as far as Frank did. Hard shoes to fill,” Nowalk explained.
Beginning Sept. 22, “How to Get Away with Murder” season 3 will air every Thursday night on ABC.
