The third season of the American television drama, “How to Get Away with Murder” is nearing its debut and it’s no surprise that rumors and speculations begin to flood the web as a cloud of mystery and uncertainty await the characters right after a spectacular season 2 finale.
Annalise Keating (Viola Davis) not only needs to deal with her “other” personality and life of covering up murders, she will also be figuring out in a career battle with a recently announced new character to be played by Luna Vlez. Per TV Line, Vlez will become the new president of Middleton University, which everyone knows is where Keating works. The role is reportedly recurring, which means there will be instances when she and Davis’ character could clash, although spoilers reveal that the school president’s personality will be more friendly and non-confrontational.
At this point in her life, Keating can no longer afford to make more enemies as she, along with her students, already has so many secrets and skeletons in the closet that making a rival against someone who is connected to her workplace could spell doom for her.
Meanwhile, a recent report claimed that there will also be several backstories for the other regulars in the upcoming season, including that of Bonnie (Liza Weil) and Frank (Charlie Weber). In an interview with Variety, series creator Peter Nowalk mentioned that the prospect of multiple storylines is a guarantee that the entire season 3 will be worth the viewers’ time.
“The storylines that I have in my head are very rich and complex… It’s about making their characters feel believable and possible and those are the stories that I really want to continue,” Nowalk said, referring to the plan of showcasing the backstories of the major characters.
The third season of “How to Get Away with Murder” debuts on Sept. 22 on ABC.
