It has been roughly two months since “How to Get Away with Murder” went on a cliffhanger midseason finale, and fans are clamoring for Annalise (Viola Davis) and the rest of her squad to come back on air and answer a lot of questions.
In episode 9, titled “What Did We Do?” Wes (Alfred Enoch) did the unimaginable by fatally shooting Annalise in the gut instead of her leg as planned after the former reveals that Rebecca (Katie Findlay) is dead. As Wes is aiming for another shot, not on Annalise’s face, she suddenly whispers “Christophe,” which is Wes’ birth name. It turns out that the two has a shared history as Annalise was one of the lawyers in charge of Wes’ mother’s suicide case.
Many followers of the show are worried how the show will go forth given that the main protagonist of the show is injured. Making it more complicated is that instead of a unit, she and the Keating 4 are looking at a rocky immediate future. Fortunately, the Emmy winner revealed that it is not the end of her character.
“Annalise is fine. Listen, Annalise is working it out like we are all working it out,” Davis told Entertainment Online.
Although she was very adamant at not giving any more spoilers, she talked about the unusual dynamics of her character with Wes.
“It’s one of responsibility and protection. But I think that maybe in question after what he did to me.”
In a separate interview with Variety, Davis also fondly talked about her very mysterious character in the show saying, “She’s maybe not likeable, it’s hard to watch at times, but I think her story deserves to be told.” Furthermore, she even offered some theory on why fans are addicted to the show and Annalise frankly stating that it is the character is a “mess,” making her a relatable despite the difference in circumstances.
“How to Get Away with Murder” resumes with brand new episodes on Feb. 11 on ABC.
