The much-awaited season 5 of Netflix’s critically-acclaimed political drama “House of Cards” will apparently feature more revelations of secrets and the possible death of a major character.

It can be recalled that during the fourth installment, Frank Underwood’s (Kevin Spacey) health started to decline. Rumors suggest that he will receive threats on his life after confirming that he is running for another term, with estranged wife Claire Underwood (Robin Wright) as his vice president.

Some fans have noticed that Claire has implied her desire for power. Since she views herself as someone who can take on her husband, it is possible that she will act on her supposed eagerness to be in a political position and contribute to Frank’s alleged demise. Adding to the assumption that the narrative will showcase a pivotal death is Michael Kelly’s previous statement acknowledging the possibility that someone could reach the end of his or her narrative.

If Frank’s death and Claire’s rise to power come to fruition, it is speculated that it may not last long as she will be challenged by the new addition to the cast, Patricia Clarkson.

Details regarding the latter’s character remain under wraps but “The Maze Runner” star may become tough competition for Claire as some believe that she will be on the bad side of the first lady of the United States. Joining her as a newcomer to the show is “Royal Pains” actor Campbell Scott. The Hollywood Reporter previously shared that both will be featured heavily in the upcoming run.

However, since there is no available synopsis yet, available information should be taken with a grain of salt.

Season 5 of “House of Cards” is slated to be released in January 2017 with new showrunners Frank Pugliese and Melissa James Gibson. The two replaced creator Beau Willimon after he exited the show earlier this year.
