The latest trailer of Netflix’s hit political drama “House of Cards” is slowly unveiling the emotional turmoil that power couple Frank and Claire Underwood will undergo as they deal with their separation.

In an earlier interview with series creator Beau Willimon, he bared that one of the main events this season is the exploration of Frank (Kevin Spacey) and Claire’s (Robin Wright) relationship following their decision to go their separate ways last season.

“We had a lot of challenges, not just in terms of what obstacles Frank will face, but also what is the nature of this union between Francis and Claire? Every season we’ve seen them change, evolve, grow deeper, run into conflicts,” he said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

But with the latest promo for the premiere of its fourth season, the tension between the two could be cut with a knife with the animosity dripping with each line, reported Vox

“You have no idea what it means to have nothing, you don’t value what we have achieved, I have had to fight for everything my entire life!” he said.

“I saw a future, out future,” Claire replied.

“We had a future until you started destroying it,” he concluded bitterly.

Recent promotional materials also underscored the upcoming tension between the former couple, who are now on opposite sides of the spectrum.

One of the posters showed Frank and Claire sporting intense glares with the tagline, “Without me, you’re nothing.”

The show is currently gearing for its return come March 4 and is using the election season to further maximize the tension and anticipation for the political drama in which Frank is also running for president, Tech Times.

Netflix has pegged most of its promotions and teasers on the U.S. elections and had Frank addressing the public in an advertisement patterned after a real life campaign ad using the slogan FU 2016 which are his initials.

The fourth season of “House of Cards” returns to Netflix on March 4.
