He may be busy with Broadway, but actor George Takei is not ruling out appearing in the reboot of one of his previous TV shows if the opportunity ends up in his doorstep.
According to Design & Trend, Takei is open to shooting a cameo appearance for the upcoming NBC limited series, Heroes Reborn, if they have a one-day shoot in New York, where he is busy getting ready for the debut of his Broadway musical Allegiance.
“We’re going to be opening on Broadway with ‘Allegiance’ this fall. We go into previews on Oct. 6, and we open on Nov. 8. And we are certainly hoping for a good long run,” Takei told The Wrap.
“[But] if [‘Heroes Reborn’ producers] have a one-day gig that they’ll shot on location in New York, I could do it,” the actor added.
The Star Trek icon previously played Kaito Nakamura in the original run of the NBC show Heroes. A recurring role, he was the father of the main character Hiro Nakamura, played by Masi Oka. One of the original founders of the Company that employed Noah Bennet (Jack Coleman), Kaito is listed as superhuman but, until the series ended, was yet to show what his ability actually was.
Heroes Reborn is a limited run that serves as a revival of the show, which ended with its fifth season in 2010. According to a Vine Report, the story picks up after the ending of Season 5 and has people with extraordinary abilities forced into hiding in the aftermath of Claire Bennet’s revelation of her healing powers.
The series will introduce newcomers to the show, including Zachary Levi, Ryan Guzman, Danika Yarosh, Robbie Kay and Francesca Eastwood.
Heroes Reborn will also feature the return of several main characters, including Hiro Nakamura (Masi Oka), Matt Parkman (Greg Grunberg), The Haitian (Jimmy Jean-Louis), Micah Sanders (Noah Gray-Cabey), Angela Petrelli (Christine Rose), and Mohinder Suresh (Sendhil Ramamurthy).
